“Wait, how did you even notice that one thing? How do you see stuff like that?” a client asked me the other day.

I gave my usual answer: “I don’t know—I just do.”

Apparently, that wasn’t cutting it. She hit me back with the same question in an email later, determined to get a real explanation.

Determined to Crack the Code

She was serious, so I figured I had to be, too. That’s when I decided to go all in. I needed to understand how my brain picks up on these sneaky patterns—like the hidden clues people leave behind in their social media content. So, I went deep, spending hours scrolling through profiles, even ones that felt random. And guess what? Every time, I found a thread—a visual element or vibe—that tied their story together.

Then, I switched gears. I started studying people who’ve been killing it in their industries or on social media for years. I assumed their Signature Styles would be super obvious, right? Well, after all that scrolling and digging (and a few “How did I end up here?” moments), I noticed three patterns.

These patterns make it so much easier to:
1️⃣ Spot someone’s Signature Style.
2️⃣ Pinpoint strong visuals.
3️⃣ Recognize when people are just being real (that “human” thing).

Here’s what I found:

• New Year, New Vibes (but kinda fake). People tend to be the least real right after the New Year or coming back from a long break. Everyone’s in “best behavior” mode. Skip those posts if you’re looking for the real stuff.
• Family = No Filter. Posts with kids, parents, or other family members are usually where people drop the act. These are pure gold for understanding their true vibe.
• Don’t Overthink It. Sometimes, what you’re looking for is staring you in the face. Just because it seems simple doesn’t mean it’s not the thing. Signature Style isn’t about being complicated. It’s about being clear.
