Live Your Values Out Loud

Hello Reader,

What Hill Are You Willing To Die On?

Why Knowing Your Core Values Is the Key to a Signature Style That Actually Feels Like You

You can have the prettiest color palette, the sassiest brand voice, and the most carefully curated feed on the planet, but if it’s not rooted in your actual values, it’s going to feel… off. Like, copy-paste-from-Pinterest levels of off.

So let’s talk about values. Not the “corporate mission statement” kind. I’m talking about the soul-level stuff. The things you actually give a damn about. The hills you’re willing to die on.

Because your Signature Style? It’s not just about what looks good. It’s about what feels right. And values are the secret sauce that ties your content, your visuals, your voice, and your message into one magnetic, recognizable presence.

Step 1: What Actually Matters to You?

Look, you’re allowed to like pretty fonts and dreamy lighting and still have strong convictions. The first thing I ask clients inside the Signature Style Intensive is: What lights you up? What do you fiercely protect? What would make you walk away from a client, a collab, or a partnership?

That’s where your values live.

Grab a pen (or the downloadable worksheet, hint hint) and circle 15 values that speak to you. Don’t overthink it. If your gut says “yes,” trust it.

Some examples?

  • If you circled authenticity, courage, and humor—hello, bold coach energy.
  • If you chose beauty, creativity, and connection—your brand probably leans into dreamy visuals and story-led captions.
  • If it’s impact, innovation, and mastery—we’re dialing up that expert authority with bold statements and high-value content.

Step 2: Trim the Fat — Your Top 5 Core Values

Yep. From 15 down to 5. This is the part where you get clear on what’s non-negotiable. These five values are the ones that show up in every post, every client convo, every caption, every yes (and every “no thanks”).

Write them down. Own them. These are your compass.

Step 3: Make It Make Sense

Now ask yourself:

  • What does each value actually mean to you?
  • Where did it come from your upbringing, your faith, your journey?
  • How do you feel when you’re in alignment with it?
  • And how do you know when it’s being violated?

This reflection is where the magic lives. It’s the difference between slapping “freedom” on a mood board and building a brand that embodies freedom, through your offers, your tone, your pace, your boundaries.

Step 4: Live It Out Loud

This is where Signature Style takes off.

Your core values should bleed into your:

  • Brand colors (warm, grounded vs. bold and rebellious?)
  • Content strategy (educational vs. inspirational vs. entertaining?)
  • Stories you tell (are you the mentor, the rebel, the nurturer?)
  • Boundaries (are you okay with repost culture or do you expect originality?)
  • Offers (do they reflect your beliefs or just your niche?)

If your content feels scattered or your brand feels “meh,” it’s probably not a strategy problem. It’s a values disconnect.

TL;DR?

Your values are not fluff. They’re the blueprint for your Signature Style and when you build your brand around them, you don’t just get more visible. You get magnetic.

Because the truth is, people don’t follow you for your fonts. They follow you because you remind them of something they believe in.
